Beauty View Farm

Wahoo, Nebraska; Saunders County

When you think of a dairy cow, what comes to mind? Black and white? Brown? Red and white?

Just outside of Wahoo, Beauty View Farm raises mainly Guernsey dairy cattle. Known for their rich, golden color of milk, these cows are given the title “Golden Guernsey.” Their milk color is due to high levels of beta carotene (a source of vitamin A) in the milk. This is a great help with the cheese, ice cream and sherbet that Beauty View Farm makes with their own milk.

DID YOU KNOW: There are seven breeds of dairy cattle: Holstein, Jersey, Guernsey, Brown Swiss, Ayrshire, Milking Shorthorn, and Red & White.  Holsteins are the most popular!
